Snapshot Day, May 4, 2013

Volunteers for this one-day water sampling event will head out into the 10 major watersheds that flow into the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, to collect water samples, conduct field measurements and contribute to valuable water quality information that assesses the health of over 100 bodies of water. Volunteers are needed from San Mateo County to San Luis Obsipo County. This one-day event is a great way to learn about and get involved in water quality, environmental protection, and your local area.

"First Flush\" Volunteers Needed

Volunteer to help monitor water quality during the first storm (First Flush) of the season. Learn about common urban pollutants that flow off our streets and into the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. No experience is necessary!

First Flush Classroom Training Thursday, September 20, 6 to 8 pm Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary (MBNMS) office: Heritage Harbor, 99 Pacific Street, Bldg 455, Monterey

Field Training/Dry Run Sunday, September 23, 9 am to Noon. Contact: Lisa Emanuelson at 647-4227 or lisa.emanuelson@noaa.gov

During this annual event, water samples will be collected at storm drain outfalls from Half Moon Bay, Santa Cruz, Capitola, Seaside, Monterey, Pacific Grove and Carmel.
